A girl and her dog
A girl and her dog
She playfully chases his auburn fur coat
With almost a whimsy, a course of affectionate trust,
Tail wagging, snout extended the majestic visage embodying loyalty
Easily she rests, her guardian ‘side her sandy towel
She sleeps, the loyal one protects
Alert for any untoward sound,
The scent of violence, anger, even fear
Till dying breath, he endures
Risking all to defend the precious
Eyes locking, both are seen as gazes entranced
Such devotion: two who are united,
Different species, yet unified
Life forming a kind of cyclical symbiosis
The two becoming one
‘Till life’s short breath
Turns to twilights preordained rest
One going on, the other ending their course
She and her golden companion
Teach a lesson of unity of purpose
Many must become one
‘Fore one can be many
