Birthday Blessings
Riding, confiding, and presiding
45,
Four decades with five
Born June 25th,
1980,
Celebration withheld
Years like water
Run in rivulets
Over, ‘round, ‘neath
Splashing, in heaven’s fury,
Flashing
Followed by thunder’s
Intermittent crashing
Raged winds whip,
Trees bowed trunks cracking
Through puddled pools,
Subaru’s silvered, sedan
Rimmed tires 4 squared
Fayetteville’s wrecked roads
Devoured by motored
Japanese perfection
Hydroplaning, traction lost,
Regained, safety in measured sustain
All wheel drive performing
Souls scene, and shared
Kindnesses given
In perfect sight, plain
Secret kept of to whom
Nor given reason to explain.
Prayers offered to God,
Reverently,
To see, or be seen,
Soft discretion distracting
While heavenly choirs
Sing in angelic refrain
Gathering in prepared refraction
Light diffused through
Lives, love, and merciful compassion
Offered sacrificially
Our pain, our gift
For those lost in darkness
Radiant for brilliance
Blinding by emanations of glory
