Days into Nights
Life without regret
Shadowed hallowed halls resounding
Wonder revealed, senses dulled, such glory abounding
Words spoken with hushed reverence, expounding
Upon foundations edge, granite quarried, cornerstone laid
Meanings lost among truth spurned, awe conveyed
Days into nights as seasons change
If only the seen would perceive
Leave the ravening horde,
Learning that
open hands receive
Closed and clasped spurn
Revealed teeth, tight lips, deceive
Fluid and evolving, lies burn
Perceptions, with eyes focused, resolving
Paintings of landscapes unseen
Mounted on halls of storied age
What could have been, tainted with regret
Multiplied, manifested, evidence of living
The road not taken
A gift received, yet reciprocation denied in giving
A loss,
We were mistaken
What once we held as sovereign
As deified gods now ash
Charcoal brittle, cracked, collapsed
foundations found other than the rock, withered
Let not regret rule
In the spaces where choice is absent
Where time has robbed
And the grave grows gratuitous within its bounds
Choose wisely while choice remains
Like nights into days
And rest
Like days into nights
