“Ever Present”

Inspired Awe in Presence

From my youngest held breath,

you whispered to me.

From form before thought

and Thought before form,

you have blessed me

and lavished your love upon me.

In the breaking,

in the making,

in the moments when death

seemed like escape —

Your love is my home.

Your love is my Hope.

Your love is my purpose.

And in living,

in the messy loving,

I am fully known.

I have seen you in a myriad of faces —

from the destitute to the devoted,

from the prideful to the broken.

You are all around me.

Perpetually.

In the Presence.

In the awe and raw beauty of nature.

In the fragility and resilience

of Lady Slippers.

In the silence after

soul-shattering devastation.

You are all around me

and within me.

I am held in your perfect sight.

I am never alone,

even when lonely.

You are the transcendent joy

held within this poet’s soul.

In ineffable witness

before the mistaken.

In the withheld condemnation

to the crushed.

In the prayers

for the broken and breaking.

You shiver through my shoulders

as invisible fire traces

my muscular form.

You are the animating, emotive force

that sparks my Muse —

you as Inspiration to the inspired.

Ever Present in the pain.

All-encompassing and Knowing.

Waiting for the Willing.

As they come again.

Beloved and beloved.

Held and Holder.

Inspired and Inspiration.

Form to formlessness.

The Love that banishes Hatred

through sacrifice

and merciful compassion.

The Savior to the Saved.

The destination to the destitute.

The calm before the storm,

and the silence that follows
