Farewell my Heart
Distance in Proximity
Farewell my Heart
I knew you once,
As you knew me,
Intimate, a sublime shared existence,
Electric tingly touch as lips met.
A first kiss, thousands of times over
Hand to heart,
Grieving lost love,
Fissures upon foundation widening,
We were one, in that distant memory.
Hand in hand, our dreams beckoning,
What we became,
Soiled garments squandered,
Weeds choking our careful cultivation,
Longing replaced with memory’s ghost,
Goodbye a word unspoken yet heard in spirit.
Strangers now as we drift,
Ships in twilight bereft lantern,
Signals lost, communication replaced by apathy,
Looks once desirous,
Given over to bitter loss and angsty anger
We used to talk then,
Laughing, teary eyed, late into morn’,
We dreamed then, shared future’s hope,
You heard me then, and I you,
Now silence reigns in our words.
Farewell my Heart, For once I knew you…
