Liturgy of Sleep
Sleepy Time
Shadows, where light is but a soft glow glimpsed in periphery,
Muted tones, shushed, dappled, and slightly sleepy grays,
Eyes open and seeing, little lights, LCDs and LEDs,
Breaking solid black, backlighting iPad Ten,
Thoughts many, muted now, slowed, still,
Lids leaded, heavy now, drawn together,
Sight sealed in sleep’s slender rest,
The dreamer dormant lain,
Dreams.
Misty,
Fogged perceptions,
Slipping, images formed,
Fragmentary slips and slides,
Dreams half-formed from serotonin,
Surrender in slumber, receptivity realized,
Mind open, Spirit signed, internal gifts given, aligned,
We commune with the One, when Silence reigns in repose.
The Way, the Truth, the Life guides us home where the soul knows.
