Psalm of Refuge

Psalm of Refuge

Psalm of Refuge

You are my refuge.

When fear cries out in darkest night,

You are my surety.

When the wolves rise as internet trolls,

You are my shield.

I rest in no other arms.

You are the spring.

Where waters flow for the thirsty doe afield,

our souls drink deep.

You are the reason—

for drawing breath as we do, and it is enough for us.

You are our living Bread.

We are Beloved more by no other.

You are the shelter in the storm.

When the finances crumble and poverty beckons,

You are the measure, sifted generously and flowing over.

When all else is as crumbling sand escaping our clasped hands,

You are the provider of us all.

We are fully known by You.

You are the solace in sorrow.

When loss closes in and grief becomes the storm,

You are the perfection of Love.

When we have our hearts broken by what it is not,

You are the mold we pour into.

We pray to be even a fraction as loving as You.

Amen.
