Ruth the Dreamer
Who is the dreamer,
Who is the dreamer,
what is the dream,
Who begets , the perceived or the perception
She is the dreamed and the dreamer;
Seeing summer nights with Caribbean flare
She is becoming
Humid and dry heat tinged with salt,
Golden memories preserved in antimony
Childhood fireflies chased barefoot through tall grasses
Youth turning to womanly grace,
She has found her heart,
Though not once was it lost,
Reception through slumber’s sleepy grasp,
She sees the vision,
What was, what is , and is to come;
“Show her the truth”
The Teacher utters;
“Open her eyes;”
“Give her a double portion;”
She shares;
obtuse are many
Yet the elect receive
She is the dreamer
Her dreams shape her intent,
Her heart , given to the giver,
Salt her words;
measured; careful yet passionate
So the dreamer becomes the dancer, and the dancer the teacher
She goes before to reveal;
How;
The young become the old,
The unlearned become the learned,
The hopeless become the hopeful
The spark of a potential realized blazes
The limited becomes the boundless
