Starting the Day with Him

Relationship advice for God

Starting the Day with Him

Some mornings are rough. Honestly, for me, that’s nearly every day. Mornings are not my thing. If you try to wake me without coffee, you’ll be lucky if your arm is still attached when you leave the room.

That’s why I actually target waking up two hours before I “plan” to get out of bed. I’ll grab my meds (yep, they’re part of life with a brain that’s been through it), a protein bar, and an energy drink, then slink back to bed.

But here’s the anchor: I refuse to start any day without giving God the first fruits. Time is our most valuable commodity. To offer it freely to Him is our tithe, our love made visible.

Stillness Before Him

Privacy matters. I go back into my bedroom and shut the door. Phone silenced.

I begin simply:

“Holy Father, please bless this time of prayer, and guide us in how to talk to You as if You are right here with us.”

Then I give myself 5 — 10 minutes to let my mind still. Thoughts will wander, but gently I reorient them toward the Father, toward the Radiant Light, toward Yeshua in perfection.

This is the breath before the praise.

I’ll often jot down impressions in my notes app with date and time — sparks of images, tugs of the Spirit, whispers toward Love.

2. Praise

Now we lift Him up.

Holy Father,

Beloved Eternal Rest,

We bow before You,

And hearts to lips confess —

You are Love.

We are keeping it real,

Seeking Your face,

That we might be like You,

Repping righteousness,

As our zeal.

3. Thanksgiving

Gratitude shakes heaven and rattles the shadows. Some days it feels impossible, but thanksgiving is warfare.

• Thank You for You.

• Thank You for today.

• Thank You for the breath to pray.

• Thank You for Your blessed Holy Spirit.

• Thank You for saving us when we didn’t know we needed saving.

4. Repentance

“Holy Father, forgive me my trespasses as I have forgiven others their trespasses against me.”

Simple. Honest. Essential.

5. Intercession

Next, I pray for others. Family. Friends. Strangers I’ve met driving rideshare. The world. The Word. All are included.

6. Personal Prayer

Finally, I bring my own needs. Because the last shall be first, and the first last.

Lifestyle of Prayer

Some mornings I miss it. I oversleep, or life intrudes. But I’ve learned this: I can still pray silently within, and He hears.

This is not about perfection in execution, but perfection in aim. To desire Him, to set firm goals, is to say I am in Love with Him.

I also read a chapter or two of Scripture before meditation, letting the Word inspire. Meditation for me is this: “Allowing God to think of God in me and steer me to new angles.”

All through the day I keep prayer flowing, silently in my spirit for those around me. Out loud only when alone. A love story in constant communication.

To speak less would label my love a lie.

Ending the Day

Before bed, I return again. Same flow — stillness, praise, thanksgiving, repentance, intercession, personal prayer.

But here’s the most important thing: the words themselves are not what matters most. It is the intent, the heart behind them. He wants us to bring Him our ugly, our pain, our truth. He wants to hold it with us.

He wants us to let Him love us.

Final Word

This is how I started. This is how I continue. By the grace of God.

We only need to desire Him, and ask. And He will give.
