The Lights Lay Low
A tribute to You My Prismatic Friend

The lights lay low, silenced, hushed.
All is that time where the day
is chewed before slumber claims,
life reviewed in reflection of You.
I am reminded of the gift given again.
I saw You today, my Love,
in the crippled legs of one
of Your children.
So prismatic was he,
that I know I received an answered prayer,
behind the glint of his gold-rimmed glasses.
He was beautiful to these tired eyes,
A fresh shot of Spiritual adrenaline.
Waking my waning presence in life
“Fresh fade from barber,” he said,
Sliding in after crutches to car.
He liked my Tattoo, Holy Holy Holy,
Placed as a brand on right neck.
“He found his way back to You,
After a long absence ”
I melted at his precious joy —
Beautiful Yeshua, there You were in rearview mirror,
through his chocolate eyes I caught a glimpse.
He had every reason to begrudge You,
his useless legs making everything harder,
but I saw genuine joy in service to You.
I pray for him now, that You will guard his,
and all new flames in Your great Name:
the Name of Yeshua HaMashiach.
Let us return once more
to that which we once were —
blessed, formed, dust.
