The Love Investment

Meditations and Blessings

The Love Investment

I got to thinking about what a relationship would look like if love were perfected in both parties.

Let’s speak metaphorically, as all good prose should. Imagine I told you there’s an investment that promises a 1-to-10 return. Whatever you place into this account will always be multiplied tenfold.

You’d laugh in my face and call me foolish. Yet love — when directed toward God — is precisely that kind of investment. His Word assures us this is true, and I bear witness also: love given to Him is always returned, not merely ten times, but uncountably.

Let’s break down how this works.

When love is perfect, as described in 1 Corinthians 13, it always reciprocates. Consider the weight of that truth: when we seek Him out of love and desire, He is there — joyfully present, returning it in manifold ways. Not to erase heartache or suffering (for these are often the soil of growth), but to bless our days on earth. He blesses us with both small joys and large heartbreaks, because each of us walks a different path, and He alone knows how to teach us uniquely.

And who better to teach us than the Spirit of God? For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 2:11). I am not saying we should not learn from teachers, but the Chief Teacher will always be God — revealed to us through the incarnate lens of Yeshua.

These blessings take many forms.

They may come as health and well-being for family and self — as long as we heed Him in the small things. Do you care for what He has given you: your body, your mental health, your spiritual life with Him? This does not mean we will not fall sick, nor that death will not come when our time arrives. But it does mean we need not live in fear. Whatever comes is shaped for our good, because it is wrought in His love. Once we learn His character, we are forever changed.

The richest blessings are not material at all. They are more of Him. More of His love. More of sanctification. More of savoring the moments, knowing He is All in All and ever-present.

So let me close with this:

Does the sun kiss your hair and dapple your path? Does it warm your shirt, soak into your skin, ease the ache of arthritis or a restless night? He created it. It exists because He sustains it in Himself. Creation is His love manifest, awaiting redemption. He still touches us in these quiet, radiant ways.

Trust the process. He will not fail to bring us home if we but show up and listen.

Love is origin.

Love is our return.

For God is Love.

As always this is Dust,

To you,

For you,

From Him,

In me.
